Erik Schouten was raised in Lititz, Pennsylvania, a working-class town tucked between cornfields and back roads, where hard work was a way of life. But Lititz carried an unexpected edge, it’s home to Clair Global, one of the largest touring sound companies in the world. As a kid, Erik stood on the outside looking in, watching tour buses roll through town and artists like Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, and U2 rehearse before heading out across the world. Those moments left a mark, music didn’t feel distant, it felt real, loud, and within reach.
In his early twenties, Erik chased that pull, hitting the road with a band and eventually making his way to Nashville. He spent years in the grind of it, playing, writing, and learning what it meant to live inside a song. But life called him back home. He returned to Pennsylvania, married his wife of now 36 years, and built a life rooted in family, raising three kids and working in construction. Music took a back seat, but it never left, it stayed in the background, waiting.
Years later, with life a little quieter and the road behind him, Erik found his way back, not to chase something, but to finally create what had been building all along. His music is rooted in Americana and the rock he grew up on, recorded live with a band, the way it used to be, amps humming, drums bleeding, real takes. These aren’t songs written for a moment, they’re songs carried over a lifetime. And now, they’re finally being heard.
